How You Can Help Right Now (Part 1)

If you can help out the San Dieguito Heritage Museum either right now or very soon, please read on. (OR, you know Evelyn Weidner or Jean Bruns or Ralph Stone or Bruce Hall or me or another SDHM volunteer and you’re willing to help out a friend…)

Earlier today I had a conversation with Evelyn Weidner (Curious? Evelyn’s first post is HERE) about what we’re both doing for the Lima Bean Faire on September 27, a Saturday that is just a month and a day away(!). Somehow it had escaped me that Evelyn is actually co-chairperson of the event along with Jean Bruns. I came away from our conversation realizing how much more there is to be done before the event.

Here are things we need right now:

1) Who do you know that has a little extra time between now and September 27, 2014? Is it YOU? We need people who can put together gift baskets of donated items.

2) We also need connections to people or businesses who might donate to our silent auction. Are you a business owner? Do you know one? or three? Who do you know?

3) Who do you know that might simply want to do whatever needs doing? Maybe organizing. Maybe making a phone call or two. Maybe making copies. There are lots of possibilities.

4) If not now or during the next month, what about the actual day of the event? Who do you know that’s available from 8 am (or later) on Saturday, September 27, 2014? Can they set up a table? Or a tent? Or a display? Are they available the day AFTER?

5) Do you have a favorite bean recipe? Would you like to compete in a cooking competition?

6) Are you internet savvy? Can you send this link out through your Twitter account? Or email it to your contacts with a little introduction from you?

Even if you only have a couple hours (or minutes if you’re sending out an email), your help is appreciated at, or before, or even AFTER the Lima Bean Faire, which is an annual community event.
